Founder’s Day & 19th Annual Sports Meet

Our children not only learn through play, they play to learn. Tapping their sports talents to the fore is the prime purpose of organizing sports day. The SVGS Sports Day celebrations opened up with an exceptional march-past by the 4 schools and a “Réplique de Olympics” style lighting of the torch at the imposing Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Sports events were held for students where they exhibited their mettle. Lieutenant Colonel Ashwin Sunder, Security Officer at Ordnance Clothing Factory, Avadi presided over the inaugural events in the forenoon. Industrialist and MD-TRLPL Mr. T Manohar, International Cricketer Mr. Anil Kumar, Traffic Warden (Annanagar Range) Mr. Sri Iyappan and Mr. Rengarajan, the Program Director of DD Podhigai were the Guests of Honour. Management members Honourable Correspondent and Founder Principal felicitated the guests. Presiding Guest Lt. Col. Ashwin Sunder hoisted the National Flag with due decorum.
The Valediction Ceremony was held in the afternoon at the stadium. Mr. Anandha Narayanan, former Head of Programs at Doordarshan, Port Blair, presided over the event. Dr. Kobudo A.S. Krishnamurthy, Secretary General of World Unified Martial Arts Federation and Mr. Rengarajan, Program Director at DD Podhigai, were the Guests of Honour. Cultural presentations were given by the students of all 4 schools.
