Befriending Strokes

Letters in the English alphabet are mystical to the pre-schoolers. Where do they stand, where do they take a curve, where do they lie flat, where do they slant – all these are explored and discovered by the young learners, gradually.

To make things easier for them, here is an activity that teaches them the strokes, strengthening their motor skills and getting closer to letters. That too, with matchsticks….

Sticking the small headed sticks on the chart helps them get acquainted with sleeping lines, slanting lines, standing lines and curves.

Developmental Implications :

  • Builds motor activity
  • Acquire coordination and graphic ability
  • Learning strokes and its variants

These activities provide rich learning experiences that will enable students to engage in constant practice leading to perfection.
